MBB: Great Team Effort Gives Poly a 10 Point Win over Morrisville.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y – The Wildcat men's basketball team took on Morrisville Wednesday in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Divisional matchup. The Wildcats and the Mustangs battled hard for 40 minutes of great basketball with the Wildcats ending up on top 90-80

The Wildcats took a nine-point lead in the first half behind 11 points by Terrynce Wilson (Bronx, N.Y.) and a 41 percent team shooting performance. In the second half both teams played hard-nosed physical basketball with the Wildcats ultimately earning the win. The win was truly a team effort with six Wildcats contributing at least nine points.

Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for the Wildcats finishing up with 25 points and 13 rebounds. The double-double effort was his sixth of the season. Mitchell also had three assists, a block, and a steal in the game.

Terrynce Wilson finished up with 13 points in the game. He had a six assists, four rebounds, a steal, and a block.

Blake Haga (Rome, N.Y.), Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y.), and Kevin Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each had 10 points in the win.
Haga played a career high 31 minutes of outstanding basketball. The junior had just one turnover, shot 75 percent from the field, and had three assist, three rebounds, and a steal while marking one of Morrisville's best players on defense.

Griffiths ran into foul trouble early but still had some big plays in the game. He was 2-2 from the field and had two steals. Williams was also in foul trouble early but had an impact on the game. He shot 44 percent in form the field and 100 percent from the charity stripe.

Joseph Ojo (Staten Island, N.Y.) played a season high 37 minutes. He had seven points, six assists, two steals, and a block. Ojo played great on defense and was very patient and efficient on offence.

For the Mustangs, Kevin Dennis had a game high 30 points and an impressive 19 rebounds. Twelve of his points came from the charity stripe where he knocked down 12 of 13. Kenny Bonaparte had 20 points in 30 minutes, hitting five three pointers. Trent Ward, who was honored in pre-game for reaching the 1,000 career point milestone had 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

The Wildcats are now 13-6 on the season and are 10-2 in the NEAC. The Wildcats next game is on Saturday when they will host Cobleskill in a NEAC Divisional game. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
