MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly men's basketball team was able to advance to the NEAC final four on Tuesday with a convincing win over Wells College 71-49. Both teams came out of the gate cold, but as the Wildcats warmed up offensively, their defensive effort kept Wells in the rear-view. The Wildcats went into the locker room at the half up 14 and held the lead through the second half.

Michael Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay HS) had a team high 19 points, shooting over 55% from the field and going 8-9 from the free-throw line. His efforts also included four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Boyea shared the scoring load with Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y. / HS of Graphics Communication Arts) who played a great all around ball game. He scored 17 points, hit the boards for seven rebounds, registered a steal, a block, and had two assists. He spread the floor nicely for the Wildcats scoring three times in the paint and three times from behind the three point line.

Tyler Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y. / Westmoreland) nearly had his fourth double-double of the season. He scored eight points and snagged a game high 12 rebounds; tying his season high. His night also included a pair of blocks and an assist. He shot 67% from the floor and did a great job controling the post.

The bulk of the scoring for the express came from Rich Ross who dropped 25 points 36 minutes played. He also grabbed a team high eight rebounds. Wells struggled offensively, shooting just 29.4% from the field and recording just one made three.

The Wildcat win secures a spot in the hunt for a NEAC Championship. The Final Four Tournament will take place this weekend at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster Pennsylvania. The Wildcats will meet the Chargers in the first round on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The game will be streamed live HERE.
