GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced that junior Quayshaun Mitchell has been named NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week on January 18th-24th. The exerpt below is from the NEAC press release announcing the selection. 

"Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y. / HS of Graphics Communication Arts) has been named the NEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after an outstanding week for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats.  The junior forward posted averages of 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1 block per game while shooting 61 percent from the field and committing just two turnovers to guide the Wildcats to a pair of conference wins last week.  Mitchell opened the week by hitting a career-most seven 3-pointers and shot 64 percent overall from beyond the arc (7-of-11) en route to a game-high 23 points in addition to grabbing five boards and swiping three steals in a 71-61 victory over Morrisville State Wednesday.  He then exploded for 36 points in an 88-78 win over Penn College Sunday, shooting 64 percent (12-of-19) from the field and knocking down 10-of-14 attempts from the charity stripe to lead all scorers in addition to also grabbing a game-high eight rebounds.  Mitchell is now averaging a team-best 16.5 points per game for the Wildcats, who improved to 6-1 in NEAC play to sit atop the NEAC North Division standings."
