MBB: Wildcats Beat Wilson 82-60 on Saturday, but Fall to Gallaudet 76-58 on Sunday.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team hosted Wilson and Gallaudet this weekend in two NEAC Conference matchups. The team cruised to a 22 point win on Saturday against Wilson 82-60, but lost 76-58 on Sunday against Gallaudet. With the weekend split, the Wildcats are now in second place in the NEAC North Division.

On Saturday the Wildcats beat Wilson College by 20 points thanks to two 41 point halves. Peyton Griffiths (Milford, N.Y. / Milford Central School) led the way for the Wildcats. He scored a game high 25 points and had a game high nine rebounds. He also had four assists and two steals in 33 minutes. Griffiths shot 77% from the field and 100% from the free throw line. Quayshaun Mitchell (Harlem, N.Y. / HS of Graphics Communication Arts) scored 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

On Sunday the Wildcats struggled offensively and lost to an efficient Gallaudet team 76-58. Turnovers and a low shooting percentage were what caused the Wildcat offense to struggle. The leading scorers for the Wildcats were Peyton Griffiths with 22 points and Quayshaun Mitchell with 10 points. The Wildcats only got eight points from their bench, which is usually a strong asset.

The Bison had the edge in most of the indicative team statistics. They shot better from the field (45%-38%), better from three (30%-28%), and better from the free throw line (80%-58%). They also had more team assists (13-12) and fewer turnovers (13-19). The Wildcats were better on the glass (36-34) and had more second chance points (15-10).

The weekend split brings the season record for the Wildcats to 5-8 (4-1 NEAC). The team will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Morrisville State to take on the Mustangs.
