MBB: Wildcats Take a Loss at Home to R.I.T.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's basketball team hosted R.I.T. on Saturday. The Wildcats, struck by injury, struggled to keep up with the Tigers offense. R.I.T. took a big lead at the end of the first half and didn't look back. The final score was 74-55.

For the Wildcats, Thomas Lucas (Buffalo, N.Y. / Tapestry Charter HS) led the team with 11 points in 23 minutes played. He shot 3-8 from behind the arc and grabbed two rebounds. Malik Johnson (Highland Falls, N.Y. / James I. O'Neil HS) and Tyler Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y. / Westmoreland) each had 10 points for the Wildcats. Taverne nearly had a double-double. He totaled nine rebounds and a block in the game. Johnson had three rebounds, all of which were offensive. He also had two steals and a block in his 25 minutes played.

The loss brings the Wildcats record to 3-5 on the season. Their next competition will be next Saturday when they will travel to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM tip-off.
