MARCY, N.Y. - SUNYIT Director of Athletics and Recreation Kevin Grimmer today thanked the members of the men's and women's basketball teams for their hard work and dedication during the 2013-14 season.

"Our Wildcat teams had tremendous achievements throughout the regular season, and it's regrettable that they were unable to participate in the post-season through no fault of their own," Grimmer said.

Although SUNYIT's basketball teams were not allowed to take part in the NEAC basketball championships due to improper certification of two transfer student athletes earlier in the season, the Wildcats bested both NEAC champions when the respective teams met in February. SUNYIT intercollegiate teams have dominated NEAC play this year, taking championships in men's cross country and soccer last fall, and tying for the regular-season title in women's volleyball. Currently, the men's volleyball team is one win off the lead in conference play.

"All of us at SUNYIT are proud of our student athletes, and I am confident our sports program will continue to compete at the highest levels," said Grimmer.
