Men’s Basketball Falls to Hot-Shooting Continentals, 96-76

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Basketball Team (10-5) fell to the Continentals of Hamilton College (10-9) Tuesday night, 96-76 at the Campus Center Gymnasium. The visitors connected on 53% of their shots and poured in 9 three-pointers en route to the road victory.

SUNYIT didn't fare badly from the field at 48%, but that number was actually slightly under the team's season FG clip of 50%.

SUNYIT put five players in double-figures, with Malcolm Jones (Syracuse, N.Y. / Fowler) leading the way with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Jones also led SUNYIT with 9 blocks, 5 assists, and 3 blocks in his 31 minutes of play.

Alonzo Grainger (Syracuse, N.Y. / Liverpool) gave the Wildcats a spark off the bench, scoring a couple baskets in a row in the second half to give SUNYIT some life, and finished the game with 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

On the other side of the ball it was sophomore shooting guard Matt Hart lighting it up from all over the hardwood. Hart led all scorers with 26 points, knocking down 11-of-20 from the floor and 4-of-9 from long range, including a number of deep three-balls.

The Wildcats will get back to conference action next, as they take the road to battle the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Berks. The game is scheduled for Friday, January 31st, at 6:00 pm.
