CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Basketball Team (2-1, 1-1 NEAC) lost its first game Tuesday night, an 86-84 heartbreaker on the road at Cazenovia.

After a Maverick Hodge (Bronx, N.Y. /  layup with 14 seconds to go tied the game at 84-all, the home team ran down the clock until a Brad Lefevre reverse-layup with 1.1 seconds tipped the scales in Cazenovia's favor, giving Cazenovia's it's first NEAC win of the year.

Lefevre had a career-day, leading Cazenovia with 28 points and 8 rebounds.

The visiting Wildcats were led by Ryan James (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs), who scored a season-high 23 points on an efficient 8-for-10 from the floor.

The Wildcats again shot the ball well, connecting on 51% of their FG attempts and as well as 7-for-19 from three-point range. Five players finished the game in double-figures for the Wildcats, who were able to get their inside game going as Kaleel Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y. / Syr. Acad. of Science) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.

SUNYIT held a halftime lead of 45-36, and even extended that lead to 16 points with just over 15 minutes to go in the second half. The Wildcats just couldn't find an answer for Lefevre and fellow reserve Keith Caiello, who came off the bench to knock down 5 of 6 from beyond the arc. Caiello and Lefevre combined for 49 of Cazenovia's 86 points on the night.

The Wildcats will have a day off before returning to action in their final home game before winter break, a non-conference pairing with Union College. Game time is slated for Thursday at 7:00 pm.
