Wildcats Defeated by Wells in NEAC Conference Game

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT men's basketball team hosted Wells College on Sunday in a NEAC Conference matchup. The Wildcats lost the game by a score of 70-53 in front of the home crowd.

The Wildcats held the game close for the first 15 minutes of regulation, but were overpowered by a fast paced Wells offense late in the first half and throughout the second. Wells College was led by EJ Taylor who hit his 100th career 3 pointer in the game and had 24 points on 6-11 shooting. Taylor also had 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist.

T'Andre Richardson (Utica, N.Y. / Utica-Proctor) was the offensive leader for the Wildcats. He scored 23 points and had 5 rebounds before getting into foul trouble after an offensive foul and a technical foul for unsportsmanlike conduct early in the second half.  Junior Alex Drake (West Sand Lake, N.Y. / Lansingburg) had 16 points with three 3-pointers. Drake also recorded 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

The conference loss drops SUUNYIT's record to 8-15 (6-7NEAC) and puts Wells at 11-13 (7-7 NEAC)The Wildcats will be continuing their NEAC schedule on Wednesday at Cazenovia College. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
