Men’s Basketball to Defend NEAC Championship as Second Seed

UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT men's basketball team will look to defend its North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship as the second seed in this year's conference tournament, which will be hosted by Penn State Harrisburg in Middletown, PA this weekend.

The Wildcats, who have won the last two NEAC championships, finished with a conference record of 13-5 to earn a first-round bye and advance to Saturday's semifinal round.  They will take on the winner of Friday's quarterfinal round match between No. 3 seed Wells College and No. 6 SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday at 2:00 pm. 

Penn State Harrisburg earned the top seed and the right to host the tournament after finishing 14-4 in NEAC play.  They will square off against the winner of Friday's quarterfinal round match between No. 4 seed Gallaudet University and No. 5 seed SUNY Morrisville on Saturday at 4:00 pm.

The championship contest is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 pm.

The Wildcats are currently 14-10 overall.
