Men's Basketball Drops Third Straight with 74-61 Loss to Hamilton

CLINTON, NY – The SUNYIT men's basketball team dropped its third straight contest with a 74-61 loss to Hamilton College in non-conference action Monday night.  The Wildcats are now 0-3 on the year, while Hamilton improved to 3-1 overall.

After the Wildcats took a 4-2 lead in the opening minutes, Hamilton would score nine unanswered points to take an 11-4 lead after four minutes of play.  Hamilton would then build its lead to as much as 10 points before eventually heading into the break with a 36-31 advantage.

The Wildcats would claw their way back in the contest with a 12-6 run to open the second half, and a jumper by senior David Golembiowski (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) gave SUNYIT its second and final lead of the night at 43-42. Hamilton would respond with a 10-2 run of its own, though, taking back the lead and never looking back the rest of the way.

Golembiowski finished with a team-high 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, while senior Calvin Logins (Lyons, NY/Keuka College) registered 16 points, six boards, two assists and two steals.  Senior Kevin Cappiello (Youngsville, NY/Sullivan West) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while sophomore Julian Bostick (Utica, NY/Herkimer County CC) dished out a game-high seven assists.

Pat Sullivan scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Hamilton to victory, while Ephraim McDowell hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points.

The Wildcats will look to rebound this Wednesday when they travel to take on Union College at 7:00 pm.
