BASE: Wildcats Beat Cross Town Rival Utica University 9-5.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's baseball team won a midweek non-conference game against Utica University 9-5 behind timely hitting and a strong pitching performance from Boston Reyes.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats offense struck in the second inning on an RBI double to right field from Christopher Martin that scored Daniel Flaherty. Quinn Hill followed with a two-RBI single to score Martin and Will Orlando. The Wildcats would strike again in the 5th inning on a two-RBI double from Carter Romansky that scored Ethan Meron and Ryan Pelton. The Pioneers would answer in the 6th inning on a two-run home run from Jason Story to cut the Wildcats' lead to 5-2. In the 7th inning, Ryan Pelton would score on an error to extend the Wildcats lead to 6-2. The Pioneers refused to go away, however, scoring three runs in the bottom of the 7th to make it a 6-5 game. In the 9th, the Wildcats scored three crucial insurance runs on an Anthony Ventiere walk and a Kurt Johnson single to give the Wildcats a four-run lead heading into the 9th inning. Alex Quig would come in to close the door in the 9th inning to secure the Wildcats victory.
