BASE: Wildcats Lose Heartbreaker at SUNY Oneonta on a 9th Inning Walk-off.

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly baseball team lost to Oneonta on Wednesday in a close game that ended in walk-off fashion for the Red Dragons. The Wildcat's pitching was solid in the game and the offense generated three runs on seven hits. Poly led from the fourth inning to the ninth inning, but a bases-loaded, two RBI base hit with two outs in the ninth gave Oneonta their ninth win of the season. The Wildcats are now 4-8 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

SUNY Poly struck first with a run in the top of the third on a balk with runners on second and third. Oneonta answered in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly by Nick Jacoby to tie the game at one.

In the top of the fourth, the Red Dragons had a passed ball go to the backstop that allowed Zachary Morrison to score the go-ahead run.

The Wildcats added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a Paul Barber RBI single to left field that drove in Alexander Bonacci.

In the bottom of the seventh, Oneonta made it a one-run game on a bases-loaded walk that scored Nate Guillen.

Trailing by one run in the bottom of the ninth, Oneonta worked to get the bases loaded with two outs. The Red Dragons called for a pinch hitter, Alex Wurster, who came up clutch. He drove in both the tying and winning runs on a line drive single to left field, winning the game for his team.
