BASE: Wildcats Beaten By Emerson at RussMatt Invitational.

WINTERHAVEN, Fla. - The SUNY Poly baseball team lost to Emerson 13-3 on Tuesday at the RussMatt Invitational Tournament. After two scoreless innings, SUNY Poly took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. However, Emerson scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a lead and eight runs in the top of the ninth to put the game away. The Wildcats are now 1-5 this season.

 

Emerson's offense was led by Jake Hatch, who went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a triple. Matt Nachamie had a 3-for-5 performance with two RBIs and a double, and Thai Morgan went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

 

SUNY Poly's offense struggled to score runs after the second inning, only scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh. Aidan Coykendall had two RBIs for SUNY Poly, while Don Vento had one RBI and stole a base.

 

SUNY Poly used four pitchers in the game, with starter Connor Marcello taking the loss after allowing five runs in 4.2 innings. Benny Guevara earned the win for Emerson after pitching seven innings and allowing three runs.

The Wildcats will start the second half of their spring break schedule with a doubleheader against UMPI on Thursday. Game one is scheduled for 9:15 AM at Lake Myrtle Park – Field #6. Game two will follow.
