BASE: Wildcats Fall to 0-2 With a Loss to Wells in Non-Conference Play.

AURORA, N.Y. - In a close game on Monday night, the SUNY Poly baseball team fell to Wells 6-3. Despite starting strong with a run in the top of the first inning, SUNY Poly struggled to keep up with Wells throughout the rest of the game. The Wildcats are now 0-2 this season.

 

In the top of the first inning, SUNY Poly scored one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Wells tied the game with one run. In the bottom of the third inning, Wells took the lead with another run. SUNY Poly scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. However, in the bottom of the eighth inning, Wells scored four runs to take the lead and ultimately win the game.

 

For SUNY Poly, James Lynch had two hits, Ryan Pelton had a triple and scored a run, and Ethan Merone and Ethan Walker each had a double and an RBI. Carter Romansky started the game and pitched four innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Connor Marcello pitched 3.1 innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits with one strikeout. Jack Montanye pitched 0.2 innings and allowed three runs on two hits with no strikeouts.

 

For Wells, Max Odum had one hit and two RBIs, and Zach Young had one hit and one RBI. Jonathan Haines started the game and pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Ryan Wiser pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three. Mike Nascimento pitched the final inning and allowed one hit and struck out two.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will head south for their annual trip to Central Florida to take part in the RussMatt Baseball Tournament. The Wildcats will play nine games over seven days at the Tournament. They will open up on Saturday against Russell Sage.
