ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly baseball team fell to Keuka in both games of their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opening series. The Wildcats did not have a great day on any front. The offense struggled to push across runs, their pitching staff struggled to keep runs off the board, and their fielders made a total of six errors in the two games. The final score of game one was 7-1 and the score of game two was 13-3.

GAME 1

The Wildcats got down early in game one after Keuka put up a run in the first and the second inning. Dante Rose (Utica, N.Y.) singled in Ray Smith (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the top of the fifth to cut the Wolves two run lead in half, scoring the Wildcats lone run of the game. Keuka would push across five in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.

Jacob Moline (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) threw a complete game for the Wildcats allowing just a single earned run on eight hits.

Connor Manderson (New Hartford, N.Y.) was the only Wildcat with multiple hits in the game, going 2-3. Ray Smith had the lone extra base hit, a triple in the 5th.

GAME 2

In game two, the Wildcats struck first, pushing a run across in the top of the first inning on a Joe Cascella (Staten Island, N.Y.) single that scored Dante Rose. The lead would not last long, as the Wolves would answer back in the top of the second with three runs. Keuka would go on to score three in the third, three in the fourth, and three in the sixth to make it an eleven run game before the Wildcats could get back on the board in the eighth with two runs on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Max Pfisterer (New Hartford, N.Y.).

The Wildcats sent five pitchers to the mound in the game. Brett Flint (Amsterdam, N.Y.) was tagged with the loss after three innings of work.

Ryan Wegner (Rochester, N.Y.) went 2-3 in the game for the Wildcats with two singles. Connor Manderson added another hit, giving him three on the day in six at-bats.

With the pair of losses, the Wildcats fall to 1-15 overall and 0-2 in the NEAC. The team will be back in action this weekend when they will travel to Aurora to face NEAC foe Wells College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
