Wildcats Drop Doubleheader Against Becker

AUBURNDALE, FLA. – The SUNY Poly Baseball Team (0-4) was swept in their double header against Becker (3-3) on Monday afternoon. The Wildcats were unable to hold on in the first game losing 9-7. They played a high-scoring second game to a score of 17-7.

The Wildcats were in control of the first game going into the bottom of the 6th leading 6-5 when Becker scored three runs to take a permanent lead. Connor Passalacqua (Whitestown, N.Y. / Whitesboro) led his team in RBIs with 2. Gerald Milanes (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Santa Rosa de Lima) and Ryan Wegner (Rochester, N.Y. / Brockport) led the team in hits with 2 a piece. Sawyer Haney (Cooperstown, N.Y. / Cooperstown Central H.S.) started on the mound for the Wildcats and was credited with the loss.

The second game went much like the first for SUNY Poly. The Wildcats went into the 5th inning leading 6-5 when Becker scored eight runs to take a commanding lead. SUNY Poly would score two more runs in the bottom of the 5th, but that would be it for the Wildcats. SUNY Poly used a handful of pitchers with Alex Helenek (Troy, N.Y. / Niskayuna) recording the start and the decision.
