Baseball Loses Two Against Ursinus

LAKELAND, FLA. – The SUNY Poly Baseball Team (0-2) opened their season Sunday morning against Ursinus (3-1). The Wildcats lost both games in the double header; they played the first game to a score of 2-1 and the second, 6-1.

The first game was played scoreless through five and a half innings until Ursinus broke through with a run in the bottom of the 6th. The Wildcats tied things back up in the top of 7th with a homerun from Gerald Milanes (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Santa Rosa de Lima H.S.). Ursinus, however, would get the final say scoring a run in the bottom of the 7th to get the win.

Jeff Albright (New York Mills, N.Y. / New York Mills) started on the mound for the Wildcats and Andrew Scharra (East Concord, N.Y. / Springville) was credited with the loss.

SUNY Poly out hit Ursinus in the second game but was not able to drive in enough runs. Ursinus got on the board early, scoring two runs in the 1st inning. The Wildcats brought in their lone run in the bottom of the 6th off a Dylan Gorski (Whitestown, N.Y. / Whitesboro) single allowing Joseph O'Rourke (Camden, N.Y. / Camden) to score.

Joseph Redmond (Stone Ridge, N.Y. / Rondout Valley) recorded the start as well as the loss.
