Wildcats Wrap up Spring Trip with Split of Double Header

AUBURNDALE FL.- The SUNYIT Men's Baseball team (4-5, 0-0 NEAC) wrapped up their 9 game  spring trip Friday, splitting a two game series with Wentworth College (6-2).

Game one again saw late inning heroics from the Wildcats as a 3 run top of the 7th inning propelled them to a 6-3 victory. The late scoring got started after sophomore outfielder Connor Passalacqua (Whitestown, N.Y. / Whitesboro) singled home a run to put the Wildcats ahead 4-3. After the team pushed across two more runs, the Wildcats turned the ball over to Ryan Dungey (Vernon, N.Y/ VVS) to close the door. Dungey pitched a scoreless 7th striking out the side to complete the game, earning him a save. Dungey also led the Wildcats offense, going 2-4 at the plate, earning 2 RBI.

The second game, the Wildcats ran out of magic. A 6 run 4th inning proved to be too much as SUNYIT fell 10-1. The bright spot of the game was a stellar performance out of the Wildcats bullpen. Matthew Teabo (Auburn, N.Y./ Port Byron) , Pall Wozniak (Hamlin, N.Y. / Brockport) , John Amon (Bloomfield, N.Y./ Bloomfield) , and Dominick Galimo (Utica, N.Y./ Notre Dame) combined to pitch 4 innings in relief, giving up just 3 hits and 1 run in the game.

The Wildcats finish the trip with a 4-5 record, which is a vast improvement from last years 2-8 record on the trip. The Wildcats will return home Saturday and after a week off, head to New York City for a Saturday double header with CCNY.
