SUNYIT Finishes Sweep of Cazenovia with 3-hit Shutout from Albright

MARCY, N.Y. – SUNYIT lefthander Jeff Albright (New York Mills, N.Y. / New York Mills H.S.) pitched a complete game shutout in the nightcap of Saturday's home doubleheader, leading the Wildcats (11-15, 4-6 NEAC) over Cazenovia by the score of 8-0.

Unlike the day's earlier game, SUNYIT left little to chance by hopping on Cazenovia for 5 runs in the first two innings, including a 4-run second. Leading the charge in the fourth were designated hitter Jhomel Solano (Bronx, N.Y. / Cristo Rey H.S.) and Ryan Dungey (Vernon, N.Y. / VVS H.S.), both of whom contributed 2-RBI singles in the inning.

On the day, Chandler Evans (New Hartford, N.Y. / New Hartford) led the Wildcats with a 3-for-4 performance to finish the doubleheader 6-for-8 with 2 RBI's and 3 runs scored.

Ultimately, though, the day belonged to Albright. The hard-throwing 6-5 lefty has had an up-and-down season on the mound for the Wildcats, but on Saturday he seemed to have found his groove. Albright struck out 8 while walking just 1, and in addition to giving up only 3 hits, the sophomore allowed more than one baserunner in only one of his seven innings of work.

With two crucial league wins in the bag, the Wildcats will now travel to Keuka tomorrow. The conference doubleheader is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
