Erin Schurr is entering her fourth year as head coach of the women’s lacrosse team with an overall record of 28-18.  The Hamburg native has been with the program since its inception, serving as an assistant coach for the first two years.  Coming off of the most successful season to date, Schurr and her squad made their mark in the record books in the 2016 season.

Recording an overall record of 13-4 and a NEAC record of 8-1, her team broke the single season wins record and earned their highest seeding ever in the conference tournament.  Schurr guided her team to their first ever NEAC championship, overcoming Morrisville and Cazenovia in the semi-finals and finals respectively.  The win produced an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, also a first for the young program.

En route to a successful post-season, Schurr’s players produced the numbers to elicit a record-breaking number of all-conference selections for the program.  The Wildcats saw five players named to the first team, one named to the second team all while producing the Offensive Player of the Year.  On top of it all, Schurr was elected by her peers as the Coach of the Year.

The 2016 season saw a multitude of team and individual records broken while leading the conference in goals, assists, goals per game, goals against, and goals against average.  Heading into the NCAA tournament, Schurr’s Wildcats also ranked 8th in the nation in scoring defense.

The 2015 season was also extremely successful under Schurr’s guidance, setting records of its own, most of which would be broken by the 2016 team.  The Wildcats finished 9-7 (6-3 NEAC), which at the time was enough to set the single season wins record and earn a spot in the conference championship tournament.  The team bowed out to Keuka in the semi-final, garnering their best finish in the tournament to date.

Schurr’s team earned five all-conference selections in 2015, including four first team selections and the Defensive Player of the Year.  She also guided one of her players to a spot on the ECAC Mid-Atlantic All-Star Team.

Schurr also serves as the head women’s soccer coach and is coming off of her fifth season which also served as her most successful at the helm of the program.  Her team produced a 14-5-1 record, bringing her overall record to 58-42-8.  Before she became head coach, Schurr served a two-year apprenticeship as the Wildcat’s assistant coach helping guide the 2010 team to a 15-4 overall record and an 11-0 NEAC record.

The 2016 season came to a close in the NEAC Semi-Finals against Lancaster Bible after besting Keuka in the quarter-final.  Four of Schurr’s players were named to the NEAC All-Conference teams.

Schurr led her 2015 team to an 11-7-3 (8-2-2 NEAC) record which helped them advance to the NEAC tournament.  Her Wildcats topped Penn College in the quarter finals and ended their season to Penn St.-Abington in the semi-finals.  The NEAC named four Wildcats to all-conference teams along with the Defensive Player of the Year.

Schurr is a 2007 graduate of SUNY Fredonia, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management and was a center midfielder for the Blue Devils women’s soccer program.  In addition, she contributed four years to the women’s lacrosse program as well.  Schurr earned her Master’s Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine in the Spring of 2014.

Said SUNY Poly Athletic Director Kevin Grimmer of Schurr's promotion in 2012, "Women's Lacrosse and Soccer are major team sports for SUNY Poly and we're excited to see them fully develop and compete well under her leadership."
