WVB: Wildcats Beaten by Cazenovia and SUNY Canton in NAC Tri-Match.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team lost two matches at home on Saturday in a North Atlantic Conference Tri-match. The Wildcats lost the first match of the day 3-1 to Cazenovia and lost the second 3-0 to SUNY Canton. The Wildcats are now 0-12 this season and are 0-2 in NAC play.


MATCH 1:

Cazenovia - 3

SUNY Poly - 1

[19-25, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25]

 

The Wildcats lost their first NAC match of the season 3-1 to Cazenovia. The Wildcats won the second set 25-22 after hitting a match-high .143. Cazenovia held the edge in hitting percentage, service aces, blocks, and kills to win their fifth match of the season and first in league play.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Sophia Ferris and Michaela Meyer led Cazenovia with 12 kills each. Ferris had a pair of aces and 11 digs. Meyer had a match-high four block assists, a solo block, and an ace.
  • Ryan Fitzgerald had a team-high 10 kills for SUNY Poly. She also had three aces, 12 digs, and a block assist.
  • Samantha Dee had a great all-around game for the Wildcats. The first-year had a career-high nine kills, a career-high 12 digs, and her first career ace.
  • Sabrina Trimblett and Emma Draper had five kills each for the Wildcats. Draper added 11 digs, a solo block, and a block assist to her stat line.
  • Meghan Peek had a team-high 14 digs and a service ace.
  • Michaela Bradshaw had 25 assists and 11 digs.
  • Taryn Anderson had a match-high 16 digs and 26 digs for Cazenovia.
  • Karissa Decosse had a great match for Cazenovia. She had eight service aces, nine kills, 10 digs, and a block assist.

SUNY Canton - 3

SUNY Poly - 0

[19-25, 18-25, 17-25]

 

The Wildcats fell in straight sets in their second match of the day. The SUNY Canton Kangaroos hit .159 as a team while the Wildcats hit -.028. The hitting percentage and kills total, 35-21 in favor of the Roos, was the main difference in the match.

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Emma Draper led the Wildcats with eight kills on 17 swings. She hit a very efficient .412 in the match with 10 digs, three aces, and a pair of block assists.
  • Cadin Taggart had a match-high 10 kills for SUNY Canton.
  • Kaylee Clark had a match-high 22 digs and three service aces for the Roos.
  • Emily Dreyer had nine kills for Canton.
  • Samantha Dee had five kills, two service aces, and six digs for the Wildcats.
  • Ryan Fitzgerald had four kills and seven digs for Poly.
  • Michaela Bradshaw had 16 assists and seven digs for the 'Cats. 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host the Utica University Pioneers on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:00 PM. The Wildcats and the Pioneers met earlier this season. The Pioneers won that match 3-0. The game will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network (SPSN).
