WVB: Wildcats Take Two at Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats Women's Volleyball team traveled to SUNY Cobleskill and won two matches (19-25, 28-26, 25-10, 25-18) and (27-25, 25-21, 25-23). With the two wins, the Wildcats are now 4-2 this season. 

 

MATCH ONE:

After dropping a tough first set, SUNY Poly bounced back and won a very competitive second set  28-26 to even the score at one set apiece. With the momentum on their side, The Wildcats took the third set convincingly by a score of 25-10. From there, SUNY Poly did not look back and took the fourth and final set to finish the match.

 

MATCH NOTES:

  • Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.) turned in a great all-around performance, tallying a team-high 15 kills to go along with 16 digs, three service aces, and two solo blocks.

  • Shannon McIntyre (New Berlin, N.Y.) had an outstanding defensive performance, leading the Wildcats with 24 digs.

  • Kaley Pichura (Syracuse, N.Y.) recorded game-highs of 36 assists and four service aces.

  • Mackenzie Larson led SUNY Cobleskill with 15 kills.

 

MATCH TWO:

In the second match of the day, the Wildcats came out firing on all cylinders. Cobleskill, however, would not fold, as they clawed back late in the first set. In the end, SUNY Poly rattled off key points to take the first set. From there on out, the Wildcats would control the match, trailing only once in the final two sets. 

 

NOTABLES:

  • Karlie King had another great match, totaling 12 kills and 17 digs.

  • Emma Draper (North Chili, N.Y.) had 10 kills and a .533 kill percentage.

  • Makayla Hulett (Colonie, N.Y.) tallied nine kills and eight digs.

 

The Wildcats will take the court on Senior Night, Friday, April 23rd against Cazenovia. The first match is set to begin at 5:00 PM at the SUNY Poly Campus Center.
