WVB: Wildcats Reach the 20 Win Mark for the Second Consecutive Year With Wins Over Alfred and Oswego.

ALFRED, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team finished their season on a high note this weekend with two wins over Alfred and Oswego. The Wildcats beat Alfred in a back and forth five set match in their first game on Saturday and won in four sets in their second match of the day against Oswego.

Ryenn Smith (Lyons, N.Y.) had a fantastic two matches for the Wildcats. She tied her career high twice by registering 22 kills against Alfred and 22 kills against Oswego. Against Alfred Smith took a season high 61 swings and had a hitting percentage of .213. She also had a match high 19 digs, a service ace, and two block assists. Against Oswego Smith had 15 digs and took 46 swings; hitting .304.

The Wildcats won the first, third, and fifth sets of their match against Alfred. The final line score read 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-8. Melissa Krak (Canastota, N.Y.) had 16 kills and hit an outstanding .359 on 39 swings. Her senior counterpart on the right side; Emma Larson (Miller Place, N.Y.) had 10 kills on 32 swings. She also had three service aces, 16 digs, and four total blocks; two solo and two assisted. Sydney Johnson (Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) had 50 assists and 13 digs in the match.

The Wildcats took their match against Oswego in four sets 25-17, 25-21, 28-30, 25-20. Sydney Johnson again put a 50 spot in the assist column of the stat sheet. Emma Larson hit a match high .409 with 11 kills on 22 attempts. Melissa Krak had 14 kills, 12 digs and two block assists.

With the two wins the Wildcats put back to back 20 win seasons in the book for just the second time in program history. With the pair of wins, the team finishes their regular season with a record of 20-11 (12-1 in the NEAC). The Wildcats will host the NEAC Championship this upcoming weekend. The Quarter final games are scheduled for Friday November 4th at 2:30, 5:00, and 7:30. The Semi-Finals will be on Saturday the 5th at 12:00 and 2:30, and the Championship Game will take place on Sunday, November 6th at 1:00 PM. The Wildcats have earned a first round bye and will play in the 12:00 game on Saturday against the winner of Wells and Penn State Berks.
