Wildcats Come Up Big on Dig Pink Night

Wildcats Come Up Big on Dig Pink Night

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Volleyball Team (12-15, 7-1 NEAC) once again went five sets with Utica College on Wednesday night. Unlike the two teams' previous matchup, however, this time the Wildcats came out on top, winning the fifth and final set by a score of 15 to 8.

Prior to the match, SUNYIT seniors Jessica Sass (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) and Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, N.Y. / LaFayette), were honored. Sass, a two-year starting Libero for the Wildcats, has been a crucial part of the women's team, and currently leads the team in digs. Jackowski has similarly started for two years as the team's Setter, and has served this year as a team co-captain along with Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, N.Y. / Central Square).

In addition to their on-court prowess, both players have represented their teams extraordinarily well academically. Sass is a 4.0 student, while Jackowski is on pace to graduate from SUNYIT in just three years.

The night was, in fact, filled with ceremony, as in addition to the Senior Night recognitions, the Wildcat team conducted their 3rd annual Dig Pink night. The team conducted a silent auction as well as 50-50 raffle, with proceeds going to benefit the Side Out Foundation, which supports Breast Cancer Research and Awareness.
