Women's Volleyball Falls to Oswego in Four Sets

OSWEGO, NY – The SUNYIT women's volleyball team fell to Oswego 3-1 (24-26, 21-25, 25-23, 18-25) in nonconference action Tuesday.  The contest also served as a Dig Pink match, with Oswego raising over $1,100 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.  The Wildcats are now 17-9 overall, while Oswego improved to 9-16 on the year.

 

Junior and reigning NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) finished with team-bests of 24 kills and 16 digs.  Senior Nicole Higgins (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) totaled 18 assists and 12 digs, while freshman Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette) tallied 17 assists, seven digs and two serve aces.  Freshman Holly Loveless (Brewerton, NY/Paul V. Moore) registered a match-high four serve aces in addition to eight kills and seven digs, while freshman Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) collected 11 digs, seven kills, two assists and two blocks.

 

Oswego received 24 kills and 12 digs from Katie van Kessel in the victory, while Stephany Olsheski tallied 50 assists and Liz Crouch recorded 17 digs. 

 

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, October 30 when they travel to Kean University for a tri-match.  They will first take on Kean at noon before squaring off against Baruch at 2:00 pm.
