KEUKA PARK, NY – The SUNYIT women's volleyball team defeated Penn State Berks 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-17) in the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Friday but fell to Gallaudet University 3-1 (17-25, 14-25, 25-20, 20-25) in the semifinals today.
Junior Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) had match highs of 16 kills and five aces to go along with 12 digs in the win over Berks. Freshman Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) finished with 14 kills and 10 digs, while senior Nicole Higgins (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) tallied 33 assists and 10 digs and freshman Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette) registered 16 digs.
In the loss to Gallaudet, Vedder finished with a match-high 23 kills in addition to 14 digs and three serve aces, while Harrington had 13 kills and a match-high 18 kills. Higgins tallied 34 assists and eight digs in her final match as a Wildcat, while Jackowski finished with 17 digs.
The Lady Wildcats finished the year 21-11, which ties them for the best record in program history.
