Four Lady Wildcats Selected to the NEAC Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team

UTICA, NY – Four Lady Wildcats from the SUNYIT women's volleyball team were selected to the NEAC All-Conference North Division Team, which was announced by the conference yesterday afternoon.

 

Junior Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) earned her third straight selection to the All-Conference First Team after another sensational season.  The 6-foot outside hitter broke her own program records for kills (531) and digs (413) in a season, while also registering 57 serve aces and 23 total blocks.  Vedder recorded 22 kills-digs double doubles out of 30 the matches she played in and won four NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week awards this season to give her 11 such honors for her career.  Joining her on the First Team was freshman outside hitter Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore), who led the team in serve aces with 58 while being second in both kills (302) and digs (350). 

 

Making the All-Conference North Division Second Team was senior Nicole Higgins (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) and freshman Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette).  Higgins, the program's all-time leader in career assists with over 3,000, tallied 753 assists on the year to go along with 164 digs, 90 kills, 53 serve aces and 35 total blocks.  Jackowski finished the regular season with 329 digs and 125 assists while playing both libero and setter for the Wildcats, and also registered 25 digs in one match, which was the fourth-highest total in one match in program history.

 

Keuka College senior Raelle Naegely was named the NEAC North Division Player of the Year while her head coach David Sweet was named Coach of the Year by his peers after Keuka finished 8-0 in the NEAC and 18-9 overall.

 

The Wildcats (20-10, 6-2 NEAC) will now head to Keuka for the NEAC Championship Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the North Division.  They will open competition today at 5:00 pm when they take on Penn State Harrisburg in the Tournament Quarterfinals.
