UTICA, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's soccer team was eliminated from the North Atlantic Conference tournament on Saturday with a loss in penalty kicks against SUNY Morrisville. The Wildcats end their season with an overall record of 8-7-2, and 6-2-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Wildcats were hosts on Saturday after finishing in first place in the West Division. The SUNY Morrisville Mustangs would make the short trip to face the Wildcats. The first half consisted of both teams attempting to set up attacks, with no success. The Mustangs would take five shots in the first half, and the Wildcats would take one. The score would remain 0-0 heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats would be more successful in setting up their attacks and would take 11 shots in the second half. However, they would not be able to score, and the game would head into overtime. Both Melanie Rott and Katie Bowers would have tremendous games in goal for their respective teams.

With the NAC playoff rules in effect, the teams would play two ten-minute overtime periods, and if the game remained scoreless, they would head to penalty kicks. The Wildcats would dominate possession in both overtimes, but the Mustangs back line would not break as they kept the score 0-0, and both teams headed to penalty kicks.

In penalty kicks, both teams would score on their first four attempts, but Melanie Rott would score the difference maker on the fifth attempt for the Mustangs, and the Wildcats would not be able to answer back. With the win, SUNY Morrisville heads to the North Atlantic Conference West Division Finals.

The Wildcats would finish 8-7-2, which is the most wins since the 2017 season.
