WSOC: Stellar Performance From Roark Leads Wildcats to 1-0 Victory.

UTICA, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's soccer team beat Bard on Wednesday evening 1-0. Chloe Roark would record twelve saves in the win. Hannah Shipley would score the lone goal for the Wildcats. With the win, the Wildcats move to 8-7-1 on the season. The Raptors move to 4-9-1 on the season.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the final regular season game of the season, the SUNY Poly Wildcats hosted the Bard Raptors on Wednesday evening. The Raptors got off to a hot start in the first half, controlling the ball for the majority of the half and registering eight shots on goal. Chloe Roark had a phenomenal game in net for the Wildcats and made save after save to keep her team in the game. The game would remain a 0-0 tie heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Wildcats would begin to possess the ball more, which led to multiple scoring chances. Hannah Shipley would find the back of the net in the 51st minute to put the Wildcats up 1-0. It would be Shipley's eighth goal of the season and was assisted by Aubree Smykla. Roark would come up big for the Wildcats in the final few minutes, making multiple diving saves to help the Wildcats hold on for the win.

Postseason play will begin for the Wildcats this weekend, where they will host the North Atlantic Conference West Division Tournament. The Wildcats will open with SUNY Morrisville on Saturday, October 28th. The game is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM. After the completion of this weekend, the winner of the West and East will play in the NAC Championship with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
