WSOC: Wildcats Drop Non-Conference Game to Russell Sage.

ALBANY, N.Y. - In a one-sided contest, the Russell Sage College women's soccer team beat SUNY Poly 8-0 at the ACP Athletic Complex in Albany, N.Y.. Russell Sage College improved their record to 3-1-0, while SUNY Poly dropped to 1-3-1 for the season.

 

The match began with Russell Sage College scoring quickly as Gianna Viscusi found the back of the net in the 4th minute, assisted by Jaclyn Benedetti. Olivia Badalucco extended the lead in the 17th minute with a floating shot, courtesy of Angelina Competiello.

 

The second half saw Russell Sage College continuing its offensive onslaught. Angelina Competiello and Kennedy Jones added to the scoreline with goals in the 51st and 58th minutes, respectively. Julia Hanlon joined the scoring parade with two goals of her own in the 66th and 67th minutes.

 

Madison Albanese and Olivia Badalucco capped off the scoring for Russell Sage College in the 72nd and 90th minutes, respectively, sealing an emphatic victory.

 

SUNY Poly struggled to find a foothold in the match, managing only five shots compared to Russell Sage College's impressive 32. Chloe Roark, the goalkeeper for SUNY Poly, faced relentless pressure from Russell Sage's attack, making eight saves in the process.

 

Russell Sage College's Kierstin Lynch, guarding the net, posted a clean sheet, stopping all five shots she faced during the game.

The Wildcats will return to the friendly confines of Wildcat Field on Saturday, September 16th when they will host their first North Atlantic Conference game of the season against SUNY Delhi. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM kick-off.
