WSOC: Wildcats Tie Against Buffalo St. 2-2 in Non-Conference Matchup.

MARCY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's soccer team tied against Buffalo St. on Sunday 2-2. The Wildcats took a 2-1 lead going into halftime before the Bengals scored the equalizer in the second half. With the draw, the Wildcats move to 1-2-1 on the season, and the Bengals move to 4-0-1.  

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Wildcats would strike first on Sunday afternoon on a goal from Rylie Fisher in the 14th minute. It would be the first goal of the season and career for the sophomore Fisher. Buffalo St. would get on the board in the 38th minute on a goal from Faye Panagopoulos. The Wildcats would answer quickly, however, scoring in the 40th minute on a goal from Amanda Sweet, assisted by Rylie Fischer. It would be Sweet's team-leading second goal of the season.

The second half consisted of each team exchanging shots on goal, before the Bengals tied the game in the 68th minute on a goal from Elsa Graf, with Hannah Esslie recording the assist. Katie Bowers would make crucial saves late to prevent the Bengals from scoring and maintain the tie.

NOTABLE STATISTICS:

  • Rylie Fischer recorded a goal and an assist for the multi-point game. Amanda Sweet would also score a goal for the Wildcats.
  • Chloe Roark recorded three saves for the Wildcats, while Katie Bowers recorded seven.
  • Addy Williams recorded four saves for the Bengals, while Faye Panagopoulos and Else Graf recorded a goal apiece.
