WSOC: Wildcats Open 2023 Season With a 1-0 Win Over Eastern Nazarene.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team opened their 2023 campaign on the right foot on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats beat the Eastern Nazarene Lions 1-0 in non-conference play. The difference-making goal was scored by SUNY Poly's Brooke Bush in the 14th minute. The Wildcat defensive unit played strong, keeping the Lions at bay. The Wildcats are now 1-0 this season.

Brooke Bush scored the game's only goal in the 14th minute of play. The goal was started and finished by Bush who dealt a give-and-go pass to her right just outside the box to Katelynn Truax. Truax took a quick touch with a defender draped on her back and found Bush open in the middle of the box. Bush made the most of the opportunity, hitting a low shot to the left side to beat the charging keeper. The goal was Brooke Bush's fifth of her career. The assist by Truax was the first of her career.

Katie Bowers earned her first win in goal of the season with a three-save shutout. Sabrina Nassar made five saves for the Lions on six shots faced.
