WSOC: Season Comes to an End For the Wildcats in the NAC Quarterfinals.

DELHI, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer season ended on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Cazenovia in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) quarterfinals. The Wildcats had a solid regular season, finishing with a 7-4-4 record, surpassing their win total from last year. The 'Cats solid regular season earned them the #2 seed in the NAC West Division, and the #5 overall seed in the NAC.

The Wildcats struggled to find the back of the net in the game, but not for lack of trying. The team took 22 shots and put eight of them on net. SUNY Poly's score was a Cazenovia own goal in the 19th minute after Kaylana Crasia, the Cazenovia keeper, made a save on a shot by Hannah Shipley. The defense tried to punch the ball over the net and out of bounds to kill the opportunity, but it was not hit high enough and found the back of the net.

The Wildcats will go into the offseason with a roster that is losing seven seniors; Elena Ruznic, Leia Abbott, Emily Arnold, Kaitlyn Daley, Quinlan Gowett, Abigail Hawes, and Montana Wolf. The team will return three of their four top scorers, including their top goal scorer Hannah Shipley who had 19 points on seven goals and five assists. They will also return both goalkeepers and three of their defenders.

There is a lot to look forward to for SUNY Poly women's soccer in the 2023 season!
