MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team wrapped up their regular season schedule on Tuesday night with a 4-1 win at Morrisville State. The Wildcats scored two goals in the first half, two goals in the second half, and held the Morrisville Mustangs to just one goal to earn their seventh win of the season. With the win, the Wildcats finish their 2022 regular season with a 7-3-4 overall record.

THE GOALS:

The Wildcat's first goal was a beauty in the fifth minute. Hannah Shipley played a pass in from the right side, finding Kate Donnelly behind the defender with plenty of space to work. Kate gathered the pass and nailed a shot to the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.

The Wildcats would strike again in the 39th minute from long distance. Ashley Kiuber started the play with a short pass near the right corner to Katelyn Truax who was right on the lines at the corner of the box. Truax took a big right-footed shot which hit the crossbar and went into the goal.

Morrisville answered with a goal of their own before the halftime whistle. Rachel Davis played a through ball that split two defenders to find Jenny DeJung at the top of the penalty arc. DeJung tapped a slow roller just outside the reach of the SUNY Poly keeper to record her fourth goal of the season.

Katelynn Truax scored the first goal of the second half in the 76th minute. Katelyn Daley started the opportunity by controlling possession in the box for the Wildcats after a throw-in from the right sideline. After avoiding a pair of defenders, Daley found Truax with a pass. She was open near the penalty arc and made the most of the opportunity, hitting a low shot to the bottom left to beat the keeper. The goal was her second of the match.

Hannah Shipley scored the final goal for the Wildcats in the 79th minute. The play was a scary one for both teams. Ashley Kiuber started the scoring play with a pass forward. It was a foot race to the ball between Shipley and the Morrisville Keeper. Shipley won the race and got off a chip shot over the keeper just before the two violently collided. The shot was perfect, sailing into the goal untouched on one bounce to give the Wildcats the 4-1 lead. Both players got up under their own power. The Morrisville keeper stayed in the game, Shipley walked herself to the Wildcat sideline after being checked out by the training staff. The goal was Shipley's team-leading seventh of the season.
