MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer North Atlantic Conference schedule started with a win on Saturday, 2-0 over Cazenovia. The 'Cats improved their season record to 2-1-1 overall with a 1-0 record in conference play. The Wildcats scored one early goal to take the lead and one goal late for insurance. The Wildcat goalkeepers combined for their second shutout of the season.

THE GOALS:

The Wildcats got on the board early in the game when Katelyn Daley took on a Cazenovia defender one-on-one on the left side. Daley made the defender bite with some solid footwork, creating space for her to hit a hard shot to the bottom left corner of the goal past a diving goalkeeper. The goal was her second of the season.

SUNY Poly added an insurance goal in the 77th minute when a nicely placed free kick from just inside midfield by Meaghan Greenway found Hannah Shipley in the box with two defenders draped all over her in front of the goal. The ball took one bounce, missing the outstretched hands of the Cazenovia goalkeeper, and found Shipley who scored the empty netter with ease. The goal was Shipley's first of the season.
