WSOC: Four Players Score in First Wildcat Win of the Season.

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team won their first game of the season on Saturday, 4-0 over Clarks Summit University. The Wildcats scored two in the first half and two in the second while completely dominating in the backfield to earn the win. The Wildcats are now 1-1 this season while the Clarks Summit Defenders drop to 0-1-1. The win was Head Coach Jeff Hallenbecks first at the helm of SUNY Poly Women's Soccer.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on an unassisted goal by senior Montana Wolf. 11 minutes later, in the 33rd minute, Freshman Brooke Bush scored another unassisted goal, the first goal of her career to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, it was more of the same for SUNY Poly who scored in the 48th minute and the 51st minute to take a commanding lead. Kaitlyn Daley scored the third goal and assisted on the fourth. Kate Donnelly netted the final goal of the game for SUNY Poly.

 

The Wildcats held Clarks Summit to just two total shots in the game with just one on target. SUNY Poly, on the other hand, took an overpowering 18 shots, placing 11 of them on goal.

 

NOTABLE STATS:

  • Katie Bowers earned her first win of the season in goal, making one save in 83 minutes played.
  • Kaitlyn Daley had a game-high three points on a goal and an assist. She took a team-high five shots in the game.
  • Montana Wolf scored her first goal of the season for the Wildcats.
  • Brooke Bush netted her first career goal for the Wildcats in the 33rd minute.
  • Kate Donnelly scored a goal in the 51st minute. It was her first of the season.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will host Hilbert College on Wednesday, September 7th for their home opener. The game is set to kick off at 5:00 PM at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field. The last time these two teams met was in 2016. SUNY Poly won the game 3-1.
