WSOC: Wildcats Beat Keuka 3-1 to Advance to the NEAC Semi-Finals.

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's soccer team hosted Keuka on Tuesday night in a win and advance NEAC Quarter Final game. Both teams fought hard, but as usual a few nice saves, a break or two, and some timely scoring was the difference maker. The Wildcats would emerge with the win allowing SUNY Poly to advance with the 3-1 victory.

In the first half the Wildcats got the scoring started with a beautiful, unassisted, snipe shot goal by Jordan Case (Whitesboro, N.Y.) from 15 yards out. The Wolves would have an answer for the goal just a few minutes later when great passing from Keuka's Emily McGuigan set up Mckenna Pettit for a cross goal score from the left side. The goal scoring for Keuka would end there.

SUNY Poly's Brittany Waterbury (Remsen, N.Y.) came up clutch to give the Wildcats the lead with five minutes remaining in the first half. Madisyn Proper (Vernon, N.Y.) started the play by dishing a nice ball for Waterbury who buried the shot in the bottom right corner giving the Cats' a 2-1 lead.

The Wildcats would come out of the locker room ready to expand the lead in the second half. With just two minutes off the game clock in the half Nakeya Stedman (Sauquoit, N.Y.) threw on the after burners to beat two defenders and drill a shot off the goal keeper's hands and into the net for a 3-1 lead.

Angela Bartlett (West Winfield, N.Y.) made some great saves in the game to keep the Wildcats in the lead. She totaled 10 saves on 11 attempts. Arguably her best save came with 33 minutes remaining in the second half when she laid out full extension to deflect a shot off the right post.

The win sends the Wildcats to the NEAC Semi-Final round this weekend in Berks, Pennsylvania where the Wildcats will meet up with the Lancaster Bible Chargers in a bid for a spot in the Championships. The semi-final game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start on Saturday November 5th.
