MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's soccer team will advance to the NEAC Semi-Finals after defeating Penn College on Wednesday night 1-0. The game came down to some late game heroics by the Wildcats who scored the lone goal of the contest with just under six minutes remaining in regulation. This match truly had it all, late game heroics, great goalkeeping, and lock down defense. The pair of Wildcats only managed nine total shots combined with five of them registering on goal. The defensive backs play for both teams was air tight with the exception of one play that fell SUNY Polys way.

The hero of tonight's game was Corrina Marconi (Rochester, N.Y. / Gates-Chili HS). Corrina scored the winning goal for the Wildcats on an assist from Nakeya Stedman (Sauquoit, N.Y. / Sauquoit HS) who drew two defenders before passing across to Corrina leaving her with a lane to the goal. Marconi was able to make a perfectly placed chip shot from about 15 yards out that cleared the goal keeper's outstretched arms by inches. The goal was Marconi's fourth of the season.

SUNY Poly goal keeper Angela Bartlett (West Winfield, N.Y. / Mount Markham HS) recorded her eighth shutout of the season, recording three saves.

The now 11-6-3 Wildcats will continue with their championship persuit on Saturday. The team will travel to Penn State Berks where they will match up with Penn State Abington in the semi-finals. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.
