Women’s Soccer Improves to 3-1 In League with Victory Over Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Soccer Team (3-4-1, 3-1 NEAC) grabbed an always-important league win on Saturday, 2-0 over the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill (1-7, 1-3 NEAC).

The Wildcats out shot the Fighting Tigers 17 to 4 on the game, however neither team was able to break a scoreless tie through the first 62 minutes.

In the 63rd minute, Kristina Strang (Rotterdam, N.Y.  / Schalmont) broke the stalemate, beating the Fighting Tiger keeper from close range to give SUNY Poly the 1-0 lead.

Minutes later the Wildcats capitalized on the momentum, as Alexis Forgit (Morris, N.Y. / Morris) scored her 5th goal of the season, equaling Strang's output so far.

Strang's strike was her team-leading 3rd game-winning goal of the year.

The Wildcats will stay on the road, heading to MCLA this Wednesday for a non-conference match with the Trail Blazers. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
