Women’s Soccer Cruises to 13-0 Victory; Forgit with 4 Goals

MARCY, N.Y. – After several hard-fought contest, the Wildcats had a reprieve on Sunday and easily handled visiting College of St. Elizabeth, 13-0. SUNYIT improved to 2-0 in conference on the year, and 2-1-1 overall.

The Wildcats got things going early as Kristina Strang (Rotterdam, N.Y. / Schalmont) scored just 5 minutes in, getting an assist from Kaelyn Francis (Worcester, N.Y. / Worcester).

Francis then followed things up with an unassisted goal just 3 minutes later, and added a second goal in the 14th minute to cap an impressive first 15 minutes (2 goals, 1 assist).

Also getting in on the action was freshman Alexis Forgit (Morris, N.Y. / Morris). Forgit scored her first career goal in the 12th minute, and would go on to score a game-high 4 goals for the Wildcats.

Several players got in on the action, as Brittany Waterbury (Remsen, N.Y. / Remsen) recorded her first two career goals, and junior Jessica Benton (Gloversville, N.Y. / Gloversville) grabbed her first score in a Wildcat uniform, adding an assist as well.

Even defensive back Erica Maisonet (Walkill, N.Y. / Walkill) got in on the action, scoring a pair of late goals including a header off a corner kick.

Next up the Wildcats will face a much stronger opponent, as the Continentals of Hamilton College come to Wildcat Field on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm, to follow the men's game against Clarkson at 5 pm.
