Wildcats Light Up the Scoreboard in 6-2 Win over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Soccer Team had no trouble finding the net on Saturday, scoring 6 goals in a road win over conference foe Wells College.

Stephanie Wurz (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Notre Dame) recorded her second hat-trick of the past 2 weeks for her team-leading 8th, 9th, and 10th goals of the season.

Wurz scored two in the first half to give the Wildcats a 2-1 advantage; the second goal was assisted by first-year Samantha Hubinsky.

With the game still in question, SUNYIT came out firing in the second half, as Katie Driscoll scored on an assist from Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater). Hanehan finished the game with 2 assists to lead all players.

In the 59th minute first-year Kaelyn Francis continued to come into her own as an offensive player for the Wildcats, scoring her third goal of the season, on an unassisted rebound off the post.

After Wurz netted her final goal in the 63rd minute, the Wildcats would surrender one more score to the Express before Kristina Strang put the finishing touches on the victory for SUNYIT, scoring her 4th goal of the year in the 87th minute to give the game its final score of 6-2.

The Wildcats out shot Wells an incredible 52 to 12, and will look to keep that kind of offense going as they continue their 5-game road trip on Wednesday. SUNYIT travels to SUNY Canton for a 7:00 pm match up.
