Women’s Soccer Falls to Utica on the Road

UTICA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Soccer Team continued to battle through a difficult early season non-conference schedule, falling to the Pioneers of Utica by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday evening.

Jenna Hughes led the way for the Pioneers, assisting on Utica's first two goals before netting two of her own. In all the Pioneers trotted out a balanced offense with 6 players registering at least a goal or an assist.

Kendra Wagstaff (Candor, N.Y. / Candor Central High School) scored the only goal of the day for SUNYIT. The senior chipped it over the Pioneer goalie's head in the 73rd minute for her team-leading second goal of the year.

SUNYIT will look to pick up their first win on the road this Saturday at NEAC opponent Gallaudet University. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
