Women’s Soccer Drops Tight One at Keuka, 2-1

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Despite appearing to be the superior team in out shooting Keuka 30 to 9, the Wildcats lost a 2-1 contest on Saturday in their first NEAC action of the year.

Credit for their victory should be split between goalkeeper Ashley Swartz and midfielder Abbey David. David netted the game winning goal from 6 yards out at the 75-minute mark, while Swartz turned away 14 of the 15 shots on goal she saw on the day.

Senior Kendra Wagstaff scored SUNYIT's only goal of the day just before the end of the first half to even the score at 1-1. Wagstaff powered the Wildcat offense, leading the team with 9 shots, including 5 on goal. Kristina Strang also pitched in with 6 shots while Abbey Hanehan added 5.

SUNYIT will continue looking for its first win when they return home this Wednesday, September 11th. The Wildcats will host Potsdam State in a 7 pm match up.
