SUNYIT Women Shutout Gallaudet at Home 4-0

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Soccer team (5-6-0) put an end to their three game losing streak on Sunday by beating the Bison (1-9-0) by a score of 4-0.

Stephanie Wurz (Whitesboro, N.Y. / Notre Dame HS) opened up the scoring for the Wildcats with a rebound goal in the 6th minute off a saved shot by Amanda Bohne (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse High School). Wurz, a junior, has scored SUNYIT's first goal in all but one of the Wildcat's wins this season. Junior Dakota Hanley (Franklin, N.Y. / Franklin Central High School) put on an offensive clinic by recording 2 goals and 1 assist on the day. The Wildcat defense was outstanding, recording their second shutout of the season by allowing Gallaudet only 2 shots on goal.

Gallaudet goalie Kara Gulvas recorded 16 saves on the day, but was overwhelmed by 36 shots (20 on goal) by SUNYIT. The Bison have lost 7 straight and fall to 0-5 in the NEAC.

The win brings the Wildcats NEAC record above .500 to 4-3. The Wildcats will host the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks on Thursday October 4th under the lights as they look to improve their overall record. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
