SUNYIT Appoints Erin Schurr as Head Women’s Soccer Coach

MARCY, N.Y. – The State University of New York Institute of Technology has promoted Erin Schurr from Interim Women's Soccer Coach to full-time Head Women's Soccer Coach for the 2012 season.

Schurr has served the program as an assistant since 2010, and added an assistantship in women's lacrosse as well during the program's inaugural season in 2012.

A graduate of Fredonia State University, Coach Schurr brings a variety of experience as both player and coach. Schurr played both women's soccer and women's lacrosse at Fredonia before going on to be the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Cheektowaga High School. From there she would accept a position as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at SUNYIT, where she helped guide the program to record win-totals and a NEAC Regular Season Championship in 2010.  

"Erin has been a valuable part of our women's soccer program for the past two years and now has the opportunity to lead our Wildcats as the head coach," said Wildcats Athletic Director Kevin Grimmer, "With our beautiful new facilities the SUNYIT sports program is heading in a very positive direction and Erin now has a much greater role in our growth and success."

The 2012 SUNYIT Women's Soccer season will get under way on September 1st at Alfred University. The team's first home match will take place on September 8th as the Wildcats host The College of Saint Elizabeth.
