NEAC Quarterfinal: Women's Soccer Team Eliminated by Penn St.-Harrisburg, 1-0

MIDDLETOWN, P.A. – The SUNYIT Women's Soccer Team's season ended on Tuesday with a loss to Penn St-Harrisburg in the first round of the NEAC Tournament, 1-0. The Wildcats offensive struggles continued as they managed just three shots on goal. Harrisburg didn't fare any better with only three shots on goal of their own, but connected on the only one they needed in first-year Tina Martino's goal at the 24 minute mark.

As is often the case in the playoffs, it's all about who's hot: the Nittany Lions came into the contest on a tear, winning five out of their last six – four such wins coming by 2 goals or more. The Wildcats, on the other hand, struggled down the stretch, losing their last two games of the season and finishing the year 3-4-1.

Nevertheless, SUNYIT played hard against a Penn St.-Harrisburg team strong enough to earn the number three overall seed in the NEAC Tournament (SUNYIT earned the 6-seed). And after losing a number of key starters from last year's undefeated regular-season champs, the Wildcats played admirably this year, with key victories over Wells and SUNY-Cobleskill late in the season to help earn the last playoff spot in the conference.
