Wildcats Fall to Keuka 3-2, Earn 6-seed in NEAC Tournament

KEUKA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT women's soccer team (8-8-1, 6-4-1 NEAC) finished the regular season with a late-goal loss to Keuka (8-6-1, 8-3-1 NEAC), 3-2. Keuka secured the fourth seed in the upcoming NEAC tournament with the win, and SUNYIT the sixth seed.

The Wildcats battled all day, coming back to tie the game at one-all on a goal by Amanda Myers (Boonville, N.Y. / Adirondack), assisted by Nicole DiNitto (Oriksany, N.Y. / Oriskany). The play marked Myers second goal of the season and DiNitto's seventh assist.

After a Keuka score left the Wildcats down 2-1, SUNYIT rallied again, this time on an unassisted goal by Stephanie Wurz (Utica, N.Y. / Notre Dame), her fifth of the year. Ultimately, though, the relentless Keuka attack proved too much as junior Sarah Capek pushed the game-winner past Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) with just over five minutes to play.

SUNYIT will now travel to #3 seeded Penn State-Harrisburg for the first round of NEAC Tournament play on Tuesday. Game time is set for 4:00 pm, with the winner moving on to face 2-seed Penn State-Abington in the conference semifinals on Saturday.
