UTICA, NY – The SUNYIT women's soccer team continued their conference winning streak, posting a 5-1 upset against the Morrisville State Mustangs on Saturday.
Senior forward Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, N.Y./Oriskany) lead the pack with two goals and an assist, with three other Wildcats registering a point. Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) had a goal and an assist, while sophomore midfielders Jamie Elderbroom (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) and Stephanie Wurz (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame) found the back of the net. Sophomore goalkeeper Aubrey Campbell (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) faced only four shots on the day, saving three and allowing only one.
Scoring the lone goal for the Mustangs was sophomore forward Kara Collins (New Berlin, N.Y./Unadilla Valley). Freshman goalkeeper Erin Bergold (Equinunk, P.A./Honesdale) faced 26 shots and registered ten saves in the game.
The Wildcats host Penn State – Berks on Saturday Sep. 24th in their fourth NEAC contest of the season. The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Wildcat Soccer Fields.
