DiNitto Selected to NSCAA All-East Region Team

UTICA, NY – SUNYIT junior Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) has been selected to the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru NCAA Division III Women's All-East Region Third Team.

DiNitto had a sensational season for the Lady Wildcats, as she broke the program records for most points (41) and goals (17) in a season while adding seven assists en route to being named to the NEAC All-Conference Second Team.  The 5-foot-7 forward netted two hat tricks on the year and was crowned the NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Upstate/Metro Offensive Player of the Week during the season.

"I am extremely pleased for Nicole," said head women's soccer coach Tyler Renaud.  "She was one of our leading offensive catalysts this season.  Her ability to play with her back to the goal and then make attacking turns was a big reason why she broke two of the program's scoring records, which she was able to do despite missing three games over the course of the regular season.  If not for her unselfishness in a number of games, I suspect the scoring record could have been higher."

"We are fortunate to have her returning for her senior year and she will be counted on to be both our scoring spark and a team leader as we head into the non-traditional spring season and our 19-game regular season schedule in 2011," Renaud added.

The Wildcats won the NEAC regular season championship with a perfect 11-0 record in conference play and finished the year a program-best 15-4 overall. The team shattered multiple single-season program records, including goals, goals per game, assists, points, goals against average, shutouts and consecutive wins.
